Catching Up

I wonder how many times I have used that title. Work just gets in the way of my quilting and blogging. In my last post, I mentioned that I was going to a conference.
Do you know what this is? It is the view of the ferris wheel from the end of Union Street in Seattle. I actually had time to walk down to Pike Market while I was at my conference. Usually, I go to a city and never see anything but the hotel and the conference center. Pike Market is great fun. See what I found!
I found Undercover Quilts. What a cute little quilt shop. The owners are so sweet. (I have their business card, but it is in my office and I can't remember their names.) The owner helped me find some fabrics to add to those that I am putting aside to make granddaughter's big-girl quilt for her third birthday (January). If you are in the area, you need to check them out.
They had some of the most wonderful machine quilted examples on display. I was especially taken with the nautical maps.

The echo quilting was something to see. I wonder if there are any Great Lakes fabrics that are similar...not that I have the skills to make something like this.

Now that I am home, I have found some sewing time. Son, DIL and granddaughter were not able to come for Thanksgiving as planned. DIL had to have gall bladder surgery. I am happy to report that she is doing well, but we missed seeing them. Sigh. We won't get to see our granddaughter until March.

I have spent a little time at my machine and was able to get Merry, Merry Snowmen block #9 completed.
Notice the sign. I haven't been happy with my back stitching, so I sewed these letters using outline stitch. It isn't as clear, but I am not redoing it. I have to say, it is not as readable as the back stitch, even though I am not very good at it.

I have also gotten the blocks put together.
Tomorrow, I will start the borders. Feels good to be getting a project done.

Thanks for stopping by.

you have to see it more positive - and use a title like "awsome discorvery" the quilt shop and the quilts .. it's all about te persepective ... and not posting - I don't really look at the dates. Some people just turn up more often in my reader than others, doesn't mean I like their blogs any less.
