Sherbets and Cream

I have been anxiously waiting to get this one finished. I posted on June 18 here that I was waiting for the next step for this quilt. On June 29, Joanna sent the instructions for the finish. But I stopped.

Have a look at the picture of the finish here. (I don't have permission to use her photo, so I am linking to it.) I am not a designer and I usually just love her quilts, but to my eye, I think the circles are too large. I have been thinking and thinking about this. I want to be sure before I move ahead.

I keep looking at this on my design wall. The circle is the actual size called for in the pattern. The squares appear larger than they will be finished because the blocks aren't sewn together yet. They are just pinned up there so I can see what it will look like.

I think the circle covers too much of the curve of the petal. Why go to all the bother of making curved petals if they are going to be covered up? I love that I didn't have to be too fussy about those points coming together, but I want more of the petal to show. Just my opinion, and that is what counts. I think I am going to make the circle smaller. I am going to experiment with several sizes before I cut my fabric.

Antique Cars Quilt Presentation

I was able to deliver the Antique Cars Quilt to its owner when we went to our 4th of July potluck.

I have blogged about this quilt here and here and other posts.

Patriotic Scrap Pillows

I have finished the pillows I posted about here.  I mentioned that I needed another pillow form. I have had a 'travel pillow' for years. These tops were the perfect size. I checked both Hobby Lobby and Michael's to buy another. No luck. I went to Meijer's for my weekly shopping and just happened to look at the row of pillows. Eureka! They had the perfect size. Thank you Meijer.

If you don't live in the Midwest, you might not know about Meijer. I am from Michigan and LOVE Meijer. It is a higher class Walmart.

Here they are with Uncle Sam. Just perfect.

Quick Curve Ruler

I completed the free pattern that comes with the Quick Curve Ruler. I have had the ruler for way too long. It was about time I sewed the free pattern.

I found it very easy to use. I need to practice a bit yet, though. I seem to taper off at the end or the curve. I probably need to use a stiletto to continue holding the fabric to the very end of the seam.
I am pretty happy with the patriotic theme I used.

I am updating this post. I have completed the quilting, binding, and labeling of this table runner.

I can't seem to take a photo that makes the quilting show. Sorry,

Wallhanging Finish

I have posted about my Cut Sew Press Repeat Wallhanging before: here and here. It is finished and hanging on my sewing room wall.

I love seeing it when I sit at my sewing machine.

Cut, Sew, Press, Repeat Wall Hanging

I posted about the CSPR wall hanging previously, here. I quilted it along with other projects on a wide backing fabric.

This was such a fun project. I will enjoy looking at it every time I sit at my sewing machine.
