Zoo Nouveau Update

I am still working on the Zoo Nouveau installment for this month. I attached shisha mirrors to the bitty blocks. I am happy with that part of the project.

I have not completed the embellishments of the butterfly blocks. I am hesitant to use beads because I am not sure what will be required in subsequent blocks. I am mostly using embroidery to embellish the butterflies.
 This block is completed.
This block needs more embroidery. I am most pleased with the butterfly body on this block.
This block is complete. I worked on this one first. I thought the french knots on the body looked like he has the measles. I added some whip stitching. This is my least favorite of all three.

I hope the embellishments will take attention away from the terrible DSM quilting. I can't do DSM free motion quilting. That is why I bought a long arm machine. Unfortunately, this project can't be quilted on a long arm. I will persevere.

Halo Medallion Month 6

I completed the June installment of Halo Medallion.
I decided not to split the floater. It was cut 1-5/8". I didn't want to deal with splitting that into two pieces. Fingers crossed that it won't seem too big when viewing the finished quilt.

Red and Cream BOM Month 6

I completed the 6th installment of the Fig Tree Red and Cream BOM.
I have been able to keep up with my BOM's this year. I have limited the number of BOM's I participate in so I don't get overwhelmed as I have in the past.

Zoo Nouveau Butterflies

I thought I would never get these done. Phew. Each one is a bit different because I kept playing with the method. I don't do much handwork anymore. My hands just can't take it. I used machine piecing, machine applique, hand applique, and just a little bit of hand piecing.
Don't look too closely. I am hoping that some of the embellishments will hide the differences in these blocks.

I have to say that I am really excited about making an "art" piece. I have always followed patterns closely and wouldn't allow myself any leeway. This is actually fun. I can't wait for the next instructions.

Doll Quilt for Little Missy

This Memorial Weekend afforded me time to complete some of the projects that have been hanging around for a while. I completed the doll quilt for Little Missy. This is a miniature of the Wall Flower Quilt based on an MSQ pattern that I made for her last year. See it here. I know she will be thrilled to have this matching quilt for her doll.
I made my own template for the small flowers.

I made a pillow that matches the backing fabric. I stuffed it with pieces of left over batting.

Sewing Room Clock

I am so excited about this. I bought the clock-works and a pattern for this clock when I was in Ireland in 2013. A couple years ago, I posted that I couldn't find the pattern in my sewing room. DH keeps telling me that I need to pull my plastic drawer sections out more often to vacuum. OK, guilty as charged. A couple of weeks ago, I pulled them out to vacuum up all of the dust and gunk that accumulates in the sewing room only to find the envelope with the pattern, directions, and clockworks. Wahoo!

Since Memorial Day is a free day in the sewing room, I celebrated by working on my clock. I didn't want to use the pattern that was included with the clock-works. I have had my eye on this paper pieced flying geese circle for a long time.

I had fun digging through my stash for the colors. I have learned, from reference to a color chart, that the color I have always called purple is actually called violet. The color chart color of purple, I have always thought was magenta. Who knew?

I love the way it looks on my wall. I can see it from my DSM or my long arm. Life is good.
