Another Finish

Yeah! I just finished the Thomas the Tank quilt for my grandson.

I meander quilted the center panel with a cream colored thread. I went around each of the trains. I used navy thread and meander quilted in the green and blue borders as well as the outer border. I am very pleased with the final product. The FMQ challenge practice is paying off. I did pretty well with the quilting. Grandson won't mind a few blips.

GREAT job, Karen! My experience has been that Grandsons don't see the blips - all they see is a quilt that Grandma made just for them! ;))

I had ordered some of the TT fabric after seeing yours - this is just so cute! He will love it!

I took your advice on the quilting. I didn't go as small as a stipple, but meandered. I am really happy that I didn't do the straight line quilting that I had at one point thought of doing. The meander is really appropriate for this. Thanks for your comments.

love the quilt
my grandsons love Thomas. I got some fabric and fussy cut Thomas and appliqued it to a T-Shirt for night wear. They love them.
I had not thought of making a quilt with it. I just might have to go back to Hobby Lobby and pick up some Thomas fabric. They had a couple of different ones there.

I enjoy reading your blog....thanks for visiting mine!

have a great day

This is great! I love the large meander quilting, it makes a kids quilt so soft and snuggly.

My eldest daughter used to love Thomas the tank engine. WE live close to a railway centre and Thomas comes to visit twice a year. She is now eight, so we don't have to go anymore. Well not specially for Thomas other Steam trains will do as well now.
